Scout Group Morvan Dias Figueiredo was founded on 08/08/1950 , on the initiative of Mr. Cristiano Solano.

Mr. Cristiano Solano, an active man concerned with the formation of our youth, found in the Scout Movement the ideal partner to achieve his purposes, aiming at the formation of the child's character and, at the same time, honoring his great friend Morvan, who died recently , At that time.

In 1950 it was called “ Association of Scouts of the Air Morvan Dias Figueiredo ”, and its first headquarters was at Escola Docas de Santos, at Rua Campos Mello, 130, as Mr. Cristiano Solano was Director of the Associação Docas de Santos.

There, he met great moments, preparing young people to face life, forming good citizens, through the application of the Scout Promise and Law, Community Work, Helping others and Scout Techniques.

Among the most varied activities, the work carried out during the landslides in the hills of Santos and in the construction of the “City of Children” stood out, with Mr. Cristiano Solano being one of the creators of this magnificent assistance work.  Several  campaigns were organized by Grupo Escoteiro in order to alleviate the suffering caused by the droughts in the northeast and, every year, winter and Christmas campaigns are organized in favor of the needy people of our city. In the floods in the south of the country, in the catastrophe of Cubatão, and in the campaigns against AIDS, Grupo Morvan's performance was remarkable.

In 1967, he moved to Santos Air Base, in Guarujá (Vicente de Carvalho) where, together with the “Ar Salgado Filho Scout Group”, they formed the “Ar Arary Scout Group”, (currently the Air Scout Group Captain Capelão Vicente Aguiar), staying at the Air Base, the most suitable place to practice Air Scouting.

In 1977,  on the initiative of Mr. Mário Brasil Espósito, former Head of the Group, it was reactivated again in Santos, with the current name: “ 55º SCOOTEIRO GROUP MORVAN DIAS FIGUEIREDO ”.

For that, former Chiefs and Scouts who worked together at that time, took over the Group, having as its headquarters the Parque Infantil Dona Leonor Mendes de Barros, in the neighborhood of Gonzaga, in Santos.

He remained there for three years, having then, in 1980, accepted the invitation of the Associação Desportiva da Polícia Militar.  to transfer to its sports headquarters, where it remained until 1994, at that time,  with the support of the ADPM Board  and  gives  Military police.

In that place it reached moments of glory, because the  “Family Morvan” grew to such an extent that it was forced to build and later expand its headquarters.

It was a tireless work of the members of the Group, organizing financial campaigns, fairs, donations from parents and friends.

Several parents, on weekends, did bricklayer, electrician and other jobs, so outside their real professions. It was a big sacrifice!

In l996, after 16 years, the Scout Group had to leave the site, as the ADPM Board of Directors broke the agreement, misappropriating the property built by the Group, at its own expense, leaving the latter, without its  thirst.

In support of the Scouts, the Associação Atlética Portuguesa Santista came, recognizing the service provided by the Group to the community, sheltering them in their  dependencies.

There, he actively participated in their activities, in a human and fraternal entanglement,  taking the Scout Movement to the membership of Portuguesa.

Through  of humanitarian campaigns carried out by the Scout Group in support of the Instituto de Estudos e Pesquisas em AIDS de Santos, in which they had Directors who belonged to Scouting, the Group met Dr. Rubens Mahfuz, philanthropist and President of the Ruth Alexandre Mahfuz Foundation, who got to know the Group's situation, freely ceding one of its properties for the installation of the Administrative Headquarters, as indeed, proceeded in the same way,  with several other entities.

Seeking to bring the meeting place closer to the administrative headquarters, in August l997, the Group returned to its origins, transferring the place of scouting activities to the Escola Docas de Santos, at the time municipal.

On February 18, 2003, after several years of campaigns and sacrifices, a property was acquired at Rua Campos Mello, 112  in which the own technical, social and administrative headquarters would be built.

At the end of 2006, for administrative reasons, the City Hall, which maintained the Escola Docas de Santos, did not renew the contract with Associação Docas, owner of the property, and the School was deactivated and the property closed. The Group remained at the location, already in precarious conditions, until May 2007, when, then, it moved to Colégio Sedes Sapientae, at Rua Arabutan, 47 in the Aparecida district. Later, he transferred his technical activities and Saturday meetings to FATEC located at Av. Bartolomeu de Gusmão, in front of the beach, a place with better conditions to practice Scouting. In 2013, Fatec underwent renovations and we moved again, temporarily until the renovations were completed, to Colégio Barnabé, at Rua São Francisco, in the city center.  On this occasion, we had to leave the property given by Dr. Mafhuz, who had died and the heirs put the property up for sale. On this occasion we were housed in a property belonging to the Messengers of Light on a temporary basis. Meanwhile, the land on our property received purchase proposals, as it increased in value with the construction of a Faculty across the street. So, in a Group Meeting, we voted to sell the  land and acquire the property in which we were headquartered, at Rua Silva Jardim, 35 .  In this way, we sell our land for cash and buy the townhouse also in cash and we still keep a part in cash, giving a positive balance.   After this long period of several changes, we finally managed to establish ourselves with a headquarters called “administrative and social” where we keep all the material, manage the

Group and we do some social activities.  As the seat of activities and meetings, we returned to the FATEC College, which finished the works, receiving from the direction, a room to store the game material and for immediate use, still leaving a space in which we serve the parents, in a pre-secretary.

Several Scout Groups were created at the initiative of the Morvan Group, many of them in activity to this day. From its ranks, several young people reached the Scout Leader, some remaining in the Group, others transferring to form or act in other Scout Groups, inside and outside our State.

The training of young people continued as the main goal of the Group, continuing to serve the community through many other campaigns, having even received the medal for “Good Services - Gold Grade”, from the União dos Escoteiros do Brasil - National Directorate.

On September 26, 1988, the work carried out by Grupo Morvan was recognized by the Municipality of Santos, granting by Legislative Decree nº 25/88, the “ MEDALHA DE HONORA TO MÉRITO ”, in a Solemn Session convened for this purpose, in the Salão Nobre. Princess Isabel.

Upon completing 50 years of foundation, the Group was honored by the União dos Escoteiros do Brasil with the granting of the “Medalha Tiradentes” according to certificate No. To the next.

Field activities were numerous, highlighting the International Patrol Camp,  in 1954, on the IV Centenary of São Paulo,  the Pan American Jamboree in Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre, and in l983, the National Jamboree in Paraguay. In 1985 the Group participated in the largest  held in Sao Paulo,  the IVth National Jury,  Where  5,000 Scouts camped. In 1992, he participated in the Columbus Jamboree, in Osório/RS, together with 8,000 Scouts from all over the world and in l999, he participated in the World Jamboree, held in Chile, camping with 35,000 other Scouts. In January 2001, he participated in the XI Pan American Jamboree held in Foz do Iguaçu/PR, camping with 6000 Scouts from the Americas and representatives from Europe. We were present at the National Jamboree in Brasília and Rio de Janeiro.

The Group has sections for Cubs (3) , Boy Scouts (2) , Girl Scouts, Seniors, Scout Guides, Pioneers. The female sector was opened, with the adoption of co-education in l982, taking the Scout Movement to the whole family.

In the ranks of the Group there are several Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts “Lís de Ouro”, as well as “Scouts  gives  Pátria”, and Pioneers “Insignia de BP” maximum training for young people.

Not only do our young people stand out, but the Managers as well, because in order to practice better Scouting, several Leaders have achieved the “Wooden Badge”, the highest training stage for adults who work with young people. We have and have had DCIMs and DCBs.

Grupo Morvan, on the occasion of the National Tournament of Scout Groups, called “Grupo Padrão”, took the “Gold Standard”, in the two years in which the Tournament was held, achieving second place in Brazil and first in the State of São Paulo. .

In l996, the “Standard Group” Program was applied again.  whose result found 10 Gold Standard Groups in Brazil, being 04 in São Paulo, with the 55th Morvan among the 04 largest Groups in our State.

On 10/22/2003, the city of Santos recognized Grupo Morvan as an important entity in community work, publishing in the Official Gazette of the Municipality of Santos the recognition of Municipal Public Utility by Law nº 2152  of 10/22/2003.

The Scout Group has a newspaper called “Informativo Morvan” whose circulation is freely distributed among the members of the Group and sent to Scout authorities throughout the country. The current direction of Morvan is formed by 25 Directors and 45 Chiefs, some of whom have been members of the Group for several years, including several Chiefs who have already recognized their work and dedication to Scouting by the Union of Scouts of Brazil, granting medals of  "Gratitude" ,  “Good Services”, “Velho Lobo”, “São Jorge”, “Tiradentes” and the highest Scout award, the “Silver Tapir Medal”.

Others, younger in Scouting, close ranks alongside the more experienced, believing in the educational power of the Scout Movement.

In this period, more than 6,000 young people and a large number of adults have passed through Morvan. We are already at the stage where we receive the grandchildren of couples who were scouts in our Group when they were children.

The Technical Management is made up mostly of couples, parents of juvenile members and others who have been in the Group since they were children, forming a true family.  -  “ THE MORVAN FAMILY ”.

We now complete this year 2020, 70 years of history with the motto "Educate, Help and Be Happy." with great desire to continue 70 more years forming good citizens.
